The FIRST® LEGO® League is a worldwide competition in which children and young people between the ages of 6 and 16 work creatively on tasks with annually changing themes. In addition to teamwork and research presentations, the competition also involves the construction and programming of a robot made of LEGO.

The competition combines the fun of technology and science with the exciting atmosphere of a sports event. The children and young people work like real engineers within a team on a common theme and plan, build and program fully automatic robots that are to master a tricky mission.

Starting at regional level, the best teams qualify for the next stage (semifinals, finals, World Festival).

The regional competition in Dresden

The LJBW is the organizer of the FIRST® LEGO® League for the Dresden/East Saxony region and will hold the Dresden regional competition on March 26, 2022 in the auditorium center of the Technical University of Dresden. This season, the participants, who are young scientists and engineers, will be working on the topic of CARGO CONNECT: What will transportation systems of the future have to look like in order to transport more and more people and goods around the world quickly, safely and effectively?

In the FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge, teams build and program an autonomously operating robot that solves 17 tasks on a special playing field as quickly and flawlessly as possible. In addition to the Robot Game, they will present an innovative solution to a scientific problem that they have researched and found themselves on the topic of CARGO CONNECT. Programming and research as well as soft skills such as teamwork and communication are evaluated.

Fabmatics has been a proud member of the FIRST® LEGO® League family since this year and will continue to support the regional competitions as a sponsor in the coming year.
