Fabmatics USA Powers High-Tech Education – Groundbreaking for the Applied Technology Center in Utica, New York
The new Applied Technology Center (ATC) in Utica, NY, is set to become a hub where technology, education, and innovation converge. Fabmatics USA is proud to be a founding technology partner, contributing systems, expertise, and a clear vision for tomorrow’s workforce.
Groundbreaking for the Applied Technology Center in Utica

On September 22, 2025, Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) officially broke ground on its new Applied Technology Center (ATC) in Utica, New York. Thomas Beeg, Managing Director of Fabmatics USA, attended the groundbreaking ceremony in person. Fabmatics USA is proud to be a key technology partner in this forward-looking initiative.
The ATC will serve as a state-of-the-art training hub for future-oriented industries such as semiconductors and advanced manufacturing. Its mission: to close workforce gaps in STEM fields and provide hands-on education using real-world automation systems.
Technology Meets Education
Fabmatics USA is contributing both expertise and automation hardware for a dedicated robotics and automation lab – including transport systems, robotics, and software that will be used for training and demonstration purposes. A standout example: Two mobile cleanroom robots – HERO FABs 200 (AGVs) – and a rail-bound HERO RAIL 200 (RGV) will be installed in the ATC and will run their courses there in future. These systems enable hands-on training in real-world automation scenarios – from pod transport to system troubleshooting and preventive maintenance. This gives students and professionals direct access to cutting-edge industrial applications.
A Strong Signal for the Region
The project is supported by $50 million in funding from the State of New York and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2027. Besides providing the technical equipment, Fabmatics USA will also take responsibility for operating the robotics and automation lab and delivering on-site training programs.
“The Applied Technology Center sends a strong signal for the future of semiconductor education in the region and beyond. We’re more than proud to contribute with our technology, expertise and commitment.,” said Thomas Beeg, Managing Director of Fabmatics USA.
